Scrappy Moms Challenge...

It's finally COLD here in New Mexico!!
Yesterday we stayed home and enjoyed some beef stew, I didn't think it would EVER be cool enough to cuddle with my blankie and enjoy some of my favorite stew again...
I had fun creating this cute little Snow Globe card for the Terrific Tuesday Challenge over at the Scrappy Moms blog...
the challenge this week was to create a card or a project using the Doodle Charms Cricut Cartridge and I created this card using my Gypsy...Yay!!
I am having a BLAST with my Gypsy...
Isn't he cute?

I created an actual snow globe using the packaging from some scrapbooking tape and then I added snow (Diamond Dust)...
I stamped this adorable snowman and then I paper pieced his scarf and mittens
Oh!!! and the sentiment comes from the Scrappy Moms
"Winter Wishes" stamp set

for the inside...I kept it simple, just stamped the sentiment using a Stampin Up stamp and I created a base using some patterned paper

I hope you like my "Snow Globe"...
Have a Blessed Weekend!!

The Shabby Tea Room Challenge...

Happy Thursday!!!
I have another card to share, this one is for a challenge over at The Shabby Tea Room.  The challenge was to create a Halloween card using PURPLE, ORANGE, BLACK & NEUTRALS WITH TWINE OR RAFFIA and here is what I created...
I love the way this card turned out, can you see the purple background?  It is purple mirror paper, fun!!  If you will look closely, you will notice that I made a Boo Boo...  I forgot to add the twine...lol  I would add it now except that I mailed this card to a friend this morning...lol

here is a close up of the bat that I stamped onto packaging from a spellbinders die with black StazOn ink and then I fussy cut it and adhered it to the card with a white Pop Dot so that it would brighten up his fangs...
I kept the inside simple, just stamped the same little bat on white cardstock

Have a Fun & Safe October 31st...

Stampin' Sisters in Christ Shining Star!!!

I am SO EXCITED to share that I was awarded a
"Shining Star"!!
I would like to Thank ALL of my Stampin' Sisters, this is truly an Honor
I will proudly display this "Shining Star" on my blog.
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this Amazing group...

Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge...

This week's scripture is:
Ecclesiastes 3:1 “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.....”

Here is the card that I created for this challenge...
Challenge: is to make a card that shows TIME
Examples: clock (minutes/hours), sun or stars (days), calendar (years), seasons...etc.

I used the Hero Arts "Time to Stamp" background stamp along with white embossing powder to emboss the clocks on the background.  I then used the cute sentiment stamp by Stampabilities

for the inside I used a Stampin Up border punch just to add a little detail along with the perfect sentiment stamp by Inkadinkado

Hope you like my card, see back in a bit with a few more projects...

I created this card for another of my husband's co-workers, Lupe.  Last night they had a pizza party to celebrate both MaryBelle and Lupe's birthdays. Here is the card I created for him...
I placed the pickup at an angle as it is going
"Over the Hill"...lol
I embossed the pickup onto black cardstock using white embossing powder and here is a close up of the window which I cut out and then added acrylic for the glass
I love to finish the inside of my cards, and I was excited to use my vintage gas pump stamp.  I hope that you like my "retro" card...

I am really enjoying my job as "card maker"...lol

The Shabby Tea Room challenge...

Happy Sunday...
I have decided to take a challenge over at The Shabby Tea RoomThis week the challenge is to create a card using the colors in this photo...

and I decided to create a card for my husband's co-worker MaryBelle.  I have been designated as the "card maker" for the crew...lol  I guess this is a "GOOD" thing...right?  I hope that I earned this title because they like my work...
Well, anyway here is the card that I came up with...

I think that it is the perfect card for an October birthday...
I used the Phantom collection by Pink Paislee to create
this "buckle" card

another requirement was to include some dry embossing so I embossed some dots on the oval frame

the inside has PLENTY of room for everyone to add their birthday wishes.  I love the little touch that the cute owl and the caged birds add to this card.

Have a Blessed Day !!!

Stampin Sisters in Christ Challenge...

Hello Everyone...
I came across a blog that I would like to share with you...
and their challenges are inspired by scripture

Scripture for this week: Matthew 11: 28 – 30 “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light..”

I happen to stop by in time to take their challenge...
Challenge: Sharing: use 2 of everything you use. (ie: 2 Dp - 2 flowers - 2 stamps - whatever you use must be doubled) Here is the card that I created for the challenge...

this is the inside of the card...

Have a Blessed Day!!!

Scrappy Moms Challenge...

So I have decided to take the Scrappy Moms Challenge this week and here it is...
Terrific Tuesday Challenge - This weeks challenge is to create a Fall themed project that incorporates teal and brown

I thought about it yesterday and wasn't sure IF I would take the challenge but I woke up this morning (3:30 to be exact) with an idea and well...I ran with it!

I have seen these cards before but could not remember where so basically I had to figure out how to make it all come together and I think I did just that...
I hope that you can see that the front of the card is clear...

okay...now you can...

I think the button with twine adds a cute little touch...

for the inside...
I used a masking technique to create my pumpkin patch

I hope that you enjoyed my Autumn card as much as I enjoyed creating it...

Thanks Sarah for the encouragement!!

Window Art...

Good Morning!!
I have an WONDERFUL home decor project to share with you today...

I came across an old wooden window at my Mom's several months ago and I brought it home with me.  Now this window was in our home growing up so it has sentimental value.  I had been thinking about how to showcase it and last week I came up with the idea to add a bible verse...

So I figured it was time to learn how to cut vinyl with my Cricut.  As you may know, I like to add interest by using different fonts and different sizes to create my Window Art.

My husband painted these cute little shutters black to go with the ones on my house and I just LOVE how this turned out...

6 days of jalapenos...

Today I am trying something totally new...
I had Jalapeno Jelly over at Diane's and it was YUMMY!!!

This is my FIRST time canning ANYTHING!
I thought why not...I can do it!!

I was able to make 6-1/2 pint size
 jars of the jelly
here is a close-up of the Jalapeno goodness...
this jelly is GREAT over cream cheese and spread
onto  Ritz crackers...
check out the CUTE little country label
which I found at
WOW!!  I have had so much fun this week!!
I hope that you enjoyed following me along on
this fun filled week of Jalapenos...

Day 5...

Hi guys!!

Feel like steak tonight?  Well I sure do...
I love to top our steaks with roasted and sliced jalapenos then melt Pepper Jack cheese over top.

doesn't this look YUMMY?  If your wondering about the green veggie well it is ALSO from Diane & Dennis and if I am not mistaken she said it is Okra Squash.  All we did was clean up the outer skin and then slice it in half lengthwise and drizzle olive oil and salt and pepper, then add it to the grill just before the steaks were done.

OH YEAH...this a gonna make the tummy happy!!!
(that's IF I don't eat the entire steak cause it's HUGE!)

Enjoy the rest of your Friday night and we will see you tomorrow...

Day 4...

I thought it would be fun to share a picture of
ONE of Diane's jalapeno plants,

and here is a picture of my grandaughter Savanna
picking the jalapenos ...

and "matos"...

she picked ALL of these and some that she ate while she was working...lol

I could not share my favorite jalapeno recipes without including some salsa.  At my house we love both the traditional tomato salsa as well as the tomatillo salsa. I like to make my salsa different ways depending on the mood and what I have available.  Today I have decided to roast Savanna's matos along with the jalapenos.

If you haven't tried Fire Roasted Tomatoes, you should...

I roast them by placing them in a veggie grill basket and then place them on the grill until they are chared and start bursting with flavor

I just made a few today but you might want to make more than this because they are YUMMY just like this.
Now just pull the skins off and pop them into the food processor along with your roasted jalapenos, some onion (thank you Mary for sharing the onion) and spices and...

WA-LA!!!

Jalapenos Take...3

We had some rain last night and it is actually quite cool out this morning.  So we need a little something to warm our tummies...

My hubby LOVES this stew.  I make it with pork and green chili but today I made it with roasted jalapenos.  The trick is to cook the pork until it is so tender that it just melts in your mouth.  I love a little dollop of sour cream to compliment the
spicy jalapenos...yummy!!

See you tomorrow...

Day 2 of Jalapeno Week...

Now EVERYONE knows you have to have some ROASTED jalapenos
in here some place...
So today Roy & I are having Chicken Fajitas for supper so I popped some jalapenos in the oven for some s-l-o-w roasting

when I make fajitas I LOVE to add green, yellow, orange and red bell peppers, it just looks so festive. So we also have some pinto beans, a nice warm tortilla and spanish rice with stewed tomatoes (my favorite way to make it) and of course the star of the plate...ROASTED JALAPENOS!!!

Yay...stay tuned to see what we come up with for Day 3

Jalapeno Week...

My friend Diane brought over a bushel of fresh jalapenos that her husband Dennis picked from their garden yesterday so I have decided to do something fun...

I am going to share some of my favorite ways to incorporate jalapenos into my meals...
I hope that you will follow me on this week long journey ...

So for Day 1 of Jalapeno Week
this little mexican girl is craving some
YUMMY Jalapeno Poppers!!!

Oh Yeah!!!

there are so many ways to make jalapeno poppers
but I think this has to be the
best recipe ever...
(if your interested in the recipe, leave a comment)

I would love to hear how you use your jalapenos, leave me a comment and maybe I can share with others right here...

Thank you Diane & Dennis!!!
